Seeds of Renaissance — Brand
Seeds of Renaissance — Brand
Single source for the brand's substance: why, what, for whom, how we sound. Consolidated 2026-09-28. No visual design here: no palette, type or layout. Visual design lives in the design system.
One line
Tagline: Vision and movement for civilisational renewal. (Rufus, 2026-09-28)
Hero line: For those who sense the old world is ending and want to help seed the new.
Earlier tagline: Planting the seeds of civilisational renewal.
Essence: a movement and a community. Media (podcast, magazine, essays) is how people find us and make sense. Belonging and practice together are what we are. The site should feel like joining a living movement of people, not subscribing to a publication.
Dedication (from the manifesto): For all the living beings whose heart burns to see a new world emerge.
Our ambition
The birth of a new cultural paradigm: one that pursues wisdom, spirituality and interbeing, and contributes to the evolution of consciousness itself. In short, a new way of being human.
Why we are here
We are living in a moment of transition. An old civilisation (modernity) is slowly dying, and the new world has not yet been born. There is widespread disillusionment and loss of meaning, but no cultural vision yet coherent enough to guide what comes next.
One crisis, not many. The ecological, political, social and spiritual crises are not separate emergencies to manage one by one. They are symptoms of a civilisation whose foundations are cracking. As in every great turning, the crisis carries within it the seed of rebirth: a second renaissance.
What we do
Seeds of Renaissance is a media house and a set of spaces of belonging. We offer mythos and language for what people already feel, together with the ideas, the practice and the company to help birth the new. We are a movement that creates greenhouses for a new paradigm.
- Vision: a coherent, larger story that tells the truth about the moment and opens toward something worth moving toward. It draws on philosophy, art, tradition and spiritual practice.
- Practice: embodied proof that another way is possible, lived out in farmhouses, studios, rituals, conversations and courses, not just argued in essays.
- Community: the company of others doing the same work, without pretending anyone has it figured out.
It is a constellation, not a programme. People share an orientation, each finds their own expression of it, and those expressions become a garden of many forms.
Offerings
Media House (discover, engage, make sense)
- Podcast / YouTube: one brand, Seeds of Renaissance, on one channel and one podcast feed. Kinds of episode (interviews, Rufus–Sylvie conversations, later perhaps Temple of the Sacred World material) are formats shown by playlist and artwork tag, not separate shows. Over the Mountains is retired as a show name (decision, 2026-10-05). The channel is where the voices meet in motion.
- Magazine: a yearly art-led print periodical where artists, writers and philosophers gather. #1 Impermanence (2024), #2 Mythos (2026).
- Essays and white papers: long-form, rigorous thinking on the moment and what comes next.
- Manifesto: the vision and principles of the movement, plus the art collective.
- Greenhouse Newsletter: releases, deeper thematic paths, events and opportunities.
Gardens of Change (belong, practise, create)
- Courses and events: practices people can take into their lives, plus in-person gatherings.
- Community gardens: online groups and meetups.
- Local Gardens of Change: people seeding hubs where they live.
The journey: you sense something isn't right → you search for words → you find us (podcast, essays, magazine) → you find belonging → you practise → you seed something where you are.
What makes us different
- Theory grounded in lived practice. We walk the talk. Our hope is authentic and honest because it comes from real life, not a pitch.
- Alchemy. We hold together intellect and art, masculine and feminine, spirituality and rigour, darkness and hope, contemplation and action. This shows in the stewards themselves: Sylvie Shiwei Barbier (ritual artist) and Rufus Pollock (researcher and writer).
- One organism, many expressions. This is not audience segmentation. The magazine can lean poetic and the papers rigorous, but the integration is the identity.
- Inner and outer work together.
Who we are here for
People who:
- are disillusioned by the crises of modern civilisation
- sense that something new is trying to emerge
- want to take part in bringing forth a new paradigm
- seek meaning, depth, wisdom and beauty
- are intellectually curious and also practically hungry, looking for grounded hope
Some already know these ideas conceptually but not how to live them. Others feel isolated, overwhelmed or cynical after watching movements fail or lose integrity.
Entry point is the sensing, not the conclusion. We speak to people who feel the gap before they can name it.
Personas:
- Meaning seeker (mid-30s–50s): therapist, teacher, tech, health, consultant. Reads McGilchrist, listens to Hagens and Vervaeke. Aesthetically sensitive.
- Post-disillusionment renewer (40s–60s): ex-church, ex-corporate, ex-academic, ex-activist. Allergic to hype. Trusts people who admit they don't have it figured out.
- Awakening professional: successful and feels the system is off. Hasn't found their people.
- Disillusioned young seeker (18–30): searching for meaning, belonging, a larger vision and real community.
What they want to feel: "These people are honest. They're living it. I'm not alone in seeing what I see."
Not for the cynical or given-up, who aren't seeking.
What we value
Depth, rigour, wisdom and taking the long view. Integration of theory and practice in service of a larger vision. An artistic, embodied quality. Doing both the inner and the outer work.
Personality
Authentic, grounded hope. Deep, elegant, mature, ambitious.
In short: honest, rigorous hope. Neither doom nor naive optimism. It is hope that has done the hard thinking and still opens toward something.
Voice and register
Poet-philosopher and lucid thinker. The lyrical leads and rigour grounds it. We speak with kind authority and gentle curiosity, from within the crisis rather than above it, and we hold grief and possibility at once. People should feel held, not lectured.
Register varies by place and is set deliberately:
| Where | Register |
|---|---|
| Home, about, offers, navigation | Lucid and plain-spoken. No jargon ("metacrisis", "interbeing", "metamodern"). Accessible without being shallow. Meets the person at the sensing |
| Manifesto, magazine, art | Full poetic and mystical voice is welcome. Ritual, the sacred, interbeing, myth, the doula at the threshold |
| Essays and papers | Rigorous. Clear argument, footnotes, frameworks, intellectual credibility |
| Podcast | Conversational, where the voices meet |
Written pattern: a lyrical opener that lands emotionally → a clear, lucid body → an implication or invitation.
Avoid: cold intellectualism, activist urgency, hype, insider jargon on entry pages, wellness or spiritual-lifestyle gloss, corporate polish.
Themes: inquisitive, curious, confident, embodied, optimistic, real, rigorous.
Public descriptions of the podcast's formats go by host and format. Framing like "masculine/feminine" stays internal.
Key language

- To a friend: "…a project for people who feel like the world's kind of falling apart and are tired of the old ways of thought and governance and want something new, but instead of just doom-scrolling about it, we're trying to figure out and actually practice what comes next."
